Gazprom Ups Azeri Gas Order

Gazprom has hiked the amount of gas it plans to buy from Azerbaijan as the EU con- tinues its efforts to secure Caspian and Mideast supplies for a Southern Corridor pipeline de- signed to bypass Russia (IOD Jan.12,p8). The Russian gas giant said it will boost Az- eri gas imports to 2 Bcm this year from around 1 Bcm in 2010 and hike volumes again next year. The subject was discussed during talks last Friday in St. Petersburg between Gazprom chief Alexei Miller and Rovnag Abdullayev, his counterpart at Azeri state Socar.
