Australia's Santos has made an oil discovery at its Finucane South-1A well on permit WA191-P in the Carnarvon Basin offshore Western Australia, about 14 km from existing oil production facilities at its operated Mutineer Exeter field, and 7 km from the Fletcher oil field discovered in 2009. Well logs and wire line testing have confirmed a net oil column of 18 meters in excellent quality reservoir sands, it said. Minnow Tap Oil, which holds an 8.2% stake in WA-191-P, said early evaluation showed the discovery might hold more than the pre-drill mean estimate of 8 million bbl.
