Vistra to settle lawsuit over texas coal plants

Power generator Vistra Energy appears poised to resolve its dispute with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Sierra Club over alleged Clean Air Act violations at two coal-fired power plants in Texas. Vistra subsidiary Luminant is expected in coming days to file a motion to drop the litigation involving its Big Brown and Martin Lake power plants, EPA and the Sierra Club said in a joint filing on 8 August. The 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals the following day ruled that EPA and the Sierra Club could drop their appeals of a lower court’s ruling that the government waited too long to sue Luminant over the alleged violations.
