Whirlpool opts for Honeywell's liquid blowing agent in US made refrigerators

Consumer goods giant, Whirlpool Corporation, is using Honeywell's 'Solstice' brand of environment-friendly liquid blowing agent (LBA) in its US made-refrigerators and freezers. The global warming potential (GWP) of the new foam blowing agent is 99.9% lower than other foam blowing agents widely used within the industry, resulting in a more environmentally-responsible household refrigerator. The conversion is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014 and the impact to the global warming effect will be the equivalent of removing more than 400,000 cars from the road, a Honeywell press note claimed.
