Duke Energy’s Carolinas subsidiaries have moved up some coalunit closures dates, and announced an additional 5,679MW inretirements over the next three decades.Duke Energy Progress now expects to close units 1 and 2 ofits 2,422MW Roxboro plant in 2028 and units 3 and 4 in 2033,instead of 2032 and 2035, respectively, the company said in itsmost recent integrated resource plan published on its websiteyesterday. It did not say specifically why it was moving up theretirement schedule.
