Five new M&A transactions were announced during the week ended 6 February, up from two during the week prior. The number of deals thus far this year has tracked evenly with the number of deals to this point last year, at 24. The week's most notable transaction was Dow Chemical's divestiture of its ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) business to Korea's SK Innovation for $370 million. The deal is contingent on the closure of the Dow-DuPont merger, and is likely a part of the divestitures needed for that transac- tion to close. Dow and DuPont together currently account for more than 50% of the global EAA market.
