Three new M&A transactions were announced during the week ended 10 September, down from six during the week prior. Deal volumes are still lagging 2017 levels, with deal values surging ahead. The week's most notable transaction was Grupa Azoty's acquisi- tion of German specialty fertilizers maker Compo Export Group, for about $273 million. Grupa Azoty says it is the second-largest producer of commodity nitrogen and compound fertilizers in the European Union, and that the acquisition marks the company's frst foray into the specialty fertilizers market. Compo makes controlled-release and slow-release fertilizers, among other speciatly fertilizer products, at plants in Germany and Spain.
