摘要

Methods of arresting fatigue cracks, based on inducing compressive stresses in front of its apexes, are investigated. Experiments were performed on samples of aluminium alloy D16AT and steel St 3 (killed) with inducing residual stresses by a spot argon arc surfacing and a local heating. It is shown that inducing of residual stresses in front of crack at the level of only 0,3...0,5 of parent metal increases the life of sample by order and more.
