Correlations between microhardness value, time of the action of spherical indentor on specimen, and thermal electromotive force of the surface layer of polished specimens of carbon steel have been established. It is shown that a random distribution of the values of physicomechanical properties through the polished surface takes place caused by a wide spectrum of formed dislocation structure characteristics occurred owing to nonuniform plastic deformation of microregions.
