Further to the notice of retraction published in the November 2012 issue of this journal (2012; 40:1077) the following four articles are also hereby retracted as a result of: 1. overwhelming evidence of fabrication, related to the fact that the distributions of many variables reported in these studies could not have occurred by chance, and/or 2. the inability of the institutions in which these studies were undertaken to attest to the integrity of the study and/or its data conducted under their auspices, as set out in the Joint Editors-in-Chief Request for Determination of April 9, 20122. The request asked for a response by June 30, 2012, directed to Dr Steven Shafer, Editor-in-Chief, Anesthesia and Analgesia. The final responses have now been received by Dr Shafer on behalf of the journals involved and are available on request.
