I read with interest the article of Francisco V. Mello-Filho, Rodrigo Ribeiro Brigato, Gustavo C. Eichenberger, Samuel R. Xavier, and Rui C. Mamede, who published in your journal their work entitled "Reconstruction of 2 mandible defects with one fibular flap," with reference doi:10.1016/j. amjoto.2007.07.003. Although I would like to congratulate the authors for their good results of a difficult and challenging..mandibular reconstruction, I cannot accept their following assertion of: "an original surgical procedure" and "in a survey of the literature, we did not find removal of the central bony part that transforms it as a double flap with a single pedicle."
