Viability of seeds and development of one-year plants of two species of the genus Lespedeza Michx. in the far East of Russia

Studies with seeds of Lespedeza cyrtobotrya and L. tomentosa indicated that they remained viable after 7-10 years of storage in the laboratory. Most seeds germinated within 2-3 days at both 10deg C and 20-30degree C. Treatment with sulfuric acid for 30 min considerably increased germination. The seedling morphology and development of the plants in the first year are described.
