Alcoa shifts 20% of clients to alumina index: Reyes

Alcoa Inc. has shifted a “significant” number of its alumina customers to an indexed pricing mechanism over the past year, even as some customers still struggle to digest the new system, a top executive of the company told AMM. “We've concluded a significant amount of business on the index. We've accomplished what we wanted to accomplish on the short term,” Timothy D. Reyes, president of Alcoa Materials Management, said in an interview with AMM ahead of the 17th International Bauxite and Alumina Seminar in Miami, sponsored by AMM sister publication Metal Bulletin.
