The influence of dates of metamorphosis, size of animals at the termination of metamorphosis and the number of emerged juveniles on survival and other fitness characteristics of females were studied by group-marking of postmetamorphic Rana arvalis individuals of three generations. The frogs under study were emerged in a breeding pond and their adults were recaptured from the same pond in 3-7 years. The survival of early juveniles before the first and following breeding was higher than in late ones within the generation of 1989 and lower than in that of 1990. The survival of females born in 1990 was higher than those born in 1989 (with juveniles of smaller size) and in 1991 (with juveniles of maximum size). The total number of eggs produced by the given generation on metamorphosis and the number of the emerged juveniles in the generation. The net reproduction rate (calculated on the basis of life-tables) was specified by the premetamorphosis survival to a greater extent than by their survival before maturation. Within each generation the net reproduction rate of each group was affected by its surviva before the following breeding to a greater degree than by fecundity. Therefore, within the generation of 1989 the early groups reproduced faster than the late ones. Among females of 1990 the relationship was reverse. The reproduction rate in large groups (early and late) of 1989 was maximum. The females of 1990 did not differ by this parameter.
