In a research field of reliable multicast communications, congestion control achieving TCP-friendliness is regarded as one of the most important technical issues. In a research field of reliable multicast communications, congestion control achieving TCP-friendliness is regarded as one of the most important technical issues. We have proposed a congestion control scheme for reliable multicast, in which the sender regulates its transmission rate using NAKs from receivers. Unless the sender properly handles spatially uncorrelated losses at receivers, however, a problem that the transmission rate substantially declines, the so-called drop-to-zero problem, occurs. As a result, TCP friendliness cannot be realized. In this study, we apply a method using a representative for congestion control purposes to our proposed scheme to avoid the drop-to-zero problem. Where the sender regulates its transmission rate in response to NAKs only from the representative. Our simulation results show that our proposed scheme avoids the drop-to-zero problem and achieves TCP-friendliness even if there are a lot of receivers suffering uncorrelated losses.
