FORMATION OF DIAMOND CRYSTALS WITH FACES PROTRUDING DUE TO ETCHING

摘要

Diamond crystal forms with protruding faces were obtained as a result of etching of plane-faceted and sharp-edged crystals in kimberlitic melt at high temperature and high pressure. These forms correspond to natural diamonds. Probably, the reason of formation of these forms is nonhomogeneous internal structure (presence of defects) of the initial crystals.
