Recovery process of demersal fish assemblage was investigated in Moune Bay, Kesennuma, Japan, after earthquake disaster of 2011. Shallow nursery grounds for small fish such as seagrass beds or sargassum beds have been seriously damaged by tsunami and land subsidence. The fish assemblage was monitored at four shallow coastal sites around Moune Bay once every two months using a small beam-trawl. In 2012, the numbers of individuals and species per unit effort increased substantially, probably indicating quick recovery from earthquake damage. Environmental characteristics of some sites have not been restored to original conditions, however, continued monitoring is necessary.
