3D computer graphics system for digital television applications

摘要

Digital terrestrial services have already started in the United States. In Japan, digital satellite broadcasting (digital BS) will commence in 2000. The incorporation of computer technologies into digital television systems is encouraging the useof three-dimensional computer graphics (3DCG) technology, which uses 1/1,000 to 1/10,000 less data than comparable current video compression techniques.This paper describes a hardware and software architecture for a new digital television system using 3DCG, and new service applications.
