摘要

An emulsion of asphalt in water was developed as a fuel for boilers. The emulsion contains almost30% water and little surfactant. Applicability to boilers was investigated by combustion tests using a1.2 MWt combustion test facility. lgnition, shape, and stability of flames resembled those of heavy oil,but the flame temperature was somewhat lower due to the heat losses caused by evaporation of thewater. NO{sub}x emission could be satisfactorily reduced by air staging, and the low NO{sub}x typeatomizer offered much more NO{sub}x reduction. The effectiveness of additive to reduce NO{sub}xemission was also confirmed. However, the dust and SO{sub}2 emissions were relatively higher thanthose from heavy oil firing.
