A ground –based system for processinginformation sent form the Interferometric Monitor forGreenhouse Gasses (IMG) has been constructed ,which is asensor for observing greenhouse effect gasses that wasdeveloped by the Ministry of International Trade & Industry andis mounted on the Advanced Earth ObservationSatellite(ADEOS) with a hypocoristic name "Midori", the earthJapan (NASDA) .The IMG Data and Information System(IMGDIS) was drawn up basically first in December ,1993,andit took three years to design, manufacture and condition thebasic IMGDIS. In August,1996 .the satellite carrying thusdeveloped IMGDIS was launched by NASDA. Then theIMGDIS was continually checked out till October , 1996, andwas put to practice use ,The system, IMGDIS, is a distributedparallel processing system consisting of about thirty universalworkstations connected by Fiber Distributed Data Interface(FDDI) network, which differs from the conventional satellitedata processing system consisting mainly ofminicomputers ,supercomputers and main framecomputers .From the viewpoint of software, the applicationsoftware installed in the IMGDIS is modularized by using theoriginally develiped middle-ware ,to bring about a flexible andhighly open – ended system with a high cost-performance.
