Implementation of a mobile agent system using an object-oriented scripting language and its application

We designed and implemented a mobile agent system (named Rubiret) using Ruby, an object-oriented scripting language. Ruby has a simple grammar, and its identifiers (used in methods of the built-in classes) are short. Scripts written in Ruby are executed by the Ruby interpreter. This paper shows an overview of the design and the implementation our mobile agent system, and gives an application, which is a mobile agent that schedules plans in a group of people. Although it is a simple application, we show it is easy to realize a mobile agent that retrieves data from several hosts and process the data due to implementing it by the scripting language and its rich classes.
