Hypnum holmenii (Musci, Hypnaceae) in the moss flora of Russia

A revision of herbarium material shows that almost all records of Hypnum callichroum in Russia are erroneous. The findings of this species in Murmansk region and in the south of the Far East were only confirmed. Most specimens of H.callichroum were redetermined as H.holmenii which was described from the Arctic Canada recently. Morphological description of this species, its characteristics of ecological behavior and distribution in Russia are provided and its difference from related species are discussed.
