Presbyopia is a visual disability of the aging eye caused by a loss of accommodation by the crystalline lens.To compensate for the symptoms of presbyopia, bifocal or multifocal reading glasses are generally used. Recently, multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) and accommodating IOLs were developed to treat presbyopia.2"4 However, a decrease in contrast sensitivity, increase in glare, double vision, halos, and insufficient accommodation have been reported after implantation of multifocal or accommodating IOLs.
