摘要

A longstanding tradition in the lead JBMT editorial has been, once a year, to take stock, make announcements, and thank the numerous contributors without whom this journal would not be possible. In the past this has appeared in the January edition; however JBMT entered 2019 under extraordinary circumstances, with the loss of its founding editor-in-chief Leon Chaitow. We are grateful for the overwhelming warmth of literally hundreds of authors from around the globe who extended their sympathies for our loss and shared warm words and warmer memories of Leon Chaitow. Based on the numerous messages received, it seems that he is remembered, above all, for his humanity and kindness - and for giving all authors the opportunity for betterment, which did not come in the shape of permissiveness but of holding authors to standards and showing them the steps that would assist them in reaching those standards.
