As the saying goes, 'time is money' and this is as relevant in the coal sector as any other commodity sector. High production rates, peak efficiency, a lower cost per tonne, minimum labour costs and reduced cycle times are all reasons that coal producers and consumers are adopting all-wheel travel technology as standard across their operations - all in the name of achieving operational efficiency. The ability to offer all the performance of a traditional system, along with the added benefits of mobility, flexibility and ultimately a lower cost per tonne has marked a change in approach by producers and consumers alike. The added ability to manage any operation throughout the logistics chain with the same piece of equipment (stockpiling, reclaiming, rail loading/ unloading and shiploading/shipunloading) has proven to be a key factor in the rise of the all-wheel travel technology across the sector. Coupled with the ability to truly customise their equipment, coal handlers look to maximise their CAPEX and OPEX investment by using innovative and multi-use equipment to ensure that every minute, as well as every dollar, is wisely spent.
