Arduinos in the Shop: Building a Shop Dust Gauge – Part 1

Over the years, I've built several projects in order to try to control the amount of dust in my shop and I've detailed some of those efforts on my webpage www.liming.org/dust collection. However, there was always a nagging question as to how much difference these projects actually made to the air quality of my shop and I wanted a way to measure the amount of dust in the air. I looked into available air quality monitors; they start at $200 for a simple home model like the Dylos DC 1100 and go way, way up from there. For that kind of money, it always seemed like there was a more important tool on my buy list to acquire instead.
