With the air domain firmly established as the area in which strategic effectors are likely to have the most influence, platforms on the ground and in the maritime sector must be able to defend themselves from the threats above. Navies of all sizes are engaged in a constant battle to provide air defence capabilities that would give their vessels the ability to detect and categorise a threat, with ample time in which to then formulate a hard- or soft-kill response.
