Although it is pleasing to see the prominence that the media gives to the environment compared to even a decade ago, this coverage remains infuriatingly disconnected. Media reports present issues that range from flooding to fly tipping as the unrelated, negative consequences of economic growth. This chimney approach carries through to policy, where the political cadre is equally reluctant to join the dots.
