Opec ministers meet in Vienna on 22 June in what is shaping up to be the group’s most politically charged meeting since 2011. The messaging inside and outside Opec is strident. 'Oil prices are too high, Opec is at it again,' US president Donald Trump tweets. Iran and Venezuela say they want Opec to discuss the impact of US sanctions on their production. And they pointedly remind the group that its production agreements must be based on consensus, and not forced through by Riyadh at the urging of its ally in Washington. Saudi Arabia and Russia are sending their own message - in the historic alliance of Opec and non-Opec producers, they still represent the champions league.
