The majors have responded to a period of "lower for longer" oil prices with a common goal to tackle the bloated mega-project costs and inefficiencies that plagued them in the halcyon days of $100/bl oil. But with the bottom of the cycle potentially past and the prospect of rising free cash flow ahead, the united front is slipping. Differentiation is once again the order of the day.
