A shake-up of Qatar’s cabinet appears imminent, with the country’s ruler Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani expected to replace energy minister Mohammed al-Sada as part of a wider changing of the guard. Al-Sada took over the position in 2011 but his influence has waned gradually since September, when Saad al-Kaabi replaced him as managing director of state-owned oil firm QP (WPA, 19 September, p7). Al-Kaabi later supplanted him in key board positions at a number of QP’s subsidiaries.
