You have to take your hat off to moss, it is one of nature's survivors. Moss can endure and thrive under a wide range of conditions and locations. From a turf point of view, this makes it a problematic weed. It's able to take advantage of marginal growing environments, allowing it to outcompete desirable grasses under these conditions. Therefore, moss invasion tends to take place during cooler periods, when grasses are less active, but moss plants are perfectly happy to continue growing. When grass growth is vigorous, it surpasses moss, thereby preventing its spread.
