When it comes to achieving high standards with in-house materials handling equipment operator training, one route doesn't always fit all. Laura Nelson, managing director for RTITB, explains the alternatives to accreditation that can help in-house training teams to achieve, and prove, legal compliance. For large in-house training teams, budgets are an important factor and the costs associated both with becoming accredited and operator registrations can be prohibitive. Moreover, the needs of an in-house training team are often vastly different to those of a commercial training provider. For example, although delivering legally compliant training is important to in-house training teams, it is perhaps more crucial that the training results in a team member that is fully competent to carry out the job safely.
