It was developed a non dispersive CVAAS mini-analyzer for mercury vapors determination in atmospheric air based on the absorption of mercury line at 184.9 nm.In order to calibrate the mini-analyzer it was developed a methodology for preparing mercury vapors standards in air.It was determined the concentration of mercury vapors in standards and their stability in time by absorbing mercury vapors from a known volume of standard in acidic potassium permanganate solution,in which mercury was then analyzed by using the conventional cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry at 253.7 nm mercury line.In order to prepare mercury vapor standards and also to adjust point"zero"of the mini-analyzer,it was studied the purification of air from mercury vapors by using a charcoal filter and a filter with gold deposited on quartz wool.Very good results were obtained by using the filter containing gold.
