The transition and reason of the rules for making rare book union catalogues in Anglo-America

Purpose: This paper examines how and why rules for creating rare book union catalogues, such as A Short-Title Catalogue of Books Printed in England, Scotland, & Ireland and of English Books Printed Abroad, 1475-1640 (STC), Short-Tile Catalogue of Books Printed in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and British America, and of English Books Printed in Other Countries, 1641-1700 (Wing STC) and English Short Title Catalogue (ESTC), have been transformed.
