Hot weather forecasts for the remainder of May and into June sparked a 3.5% jump in the June gas futures, which ended the session in the low $2.90s per million Btu. "The forecast for the end of May is looking like a blowtorch in most of the US as the month is prepared to go down as one of the warmest Mays on record," Gelber & Associates analyst Daniel Myers said. The prompt-month soared 9.8¢ to close at $2.908/MMBtu and traded in a range from $2.816 to $2.917. The 12-month strip was up 7¢ at $2.937, while the 2019 strip rose 4.2¢ to $2.791 (Futures contract).
