Australian thermal coal exports up in October

Australia’s thermal coal exports rose in October on a rebound in shipments to China and South Korea and record volumes to Vietnam, while the average export price dropped to its lowest monthly level in three years. Australia exported 18.67mn t in October, up slightly from 18.61mn t in October 2018 and 17.16mn t in September this year, which was adjusted from the initial estimate of 17.15mn t. The October volume was also the highest monthly level since the 20.87mn t shipped in July, based on October’s trade data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
