Hurricane Dorian battered the Bahamas on Monday (Sept. 2), damaging or destroyed thousands of homes and killing atleast 30 people with thousands still missing. Total insured and uninsured losses in the Bahamas have been estimated at$7 billion. The US states of Virginia, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina have all declared a state ofemergency. As of Thursday evening, Dorian was downgraded from a category 5 to a category 2 storm, hitting NorthCarolina (Sept. 5) with 100-mile-per-hour sustained winds.
