Application of Flexible AC Transmission Systems Devices for Power System Stability Enhancement and Case Study

摘要

This paper describes the theory and simulation of FACTS devices using MATLAB/Simulink applied in the disturbed IEEE 14 Bus Power System. It is also investigates the improvement of transient stability of the system by controlling the active and reactive power flows along the transmission line. As a suggested solution to increase stability margins of the system, PSS including AVR are installed in the network. TCSC, SVC and UPFC controllers are added, modeled and tested to validate the effectiveness on the different stability margins under disturbances. The performance of PSS-AVR, TCSC and SVC is compared with PSS-AVR and UPFC. Finally simulation results have been presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed devices on transient stability improvement of the system.
