One of Hydro Karm?y's two production lines with an annual capacity of 195,000 tonnes of primary aluminium suffered a power failure on 1 April. The Karm?y technology pilot is not affected by the situation. Power at the af- fected facility was restored at a lower amper- age. The affected facility has 288 production cells, of which 45 were subsequently taken out of production to enable stable operations. This represents around 10% of the total pro- duction capacity at the Karm?y plant. It is too early to estimate the financial con- sequences or when the plant will be able to restart the shut-down cells and resume full production, says Hydro. Customer impact is expected to be limited. The cause of the power failure is not known, and Hydro is investigat- ing the cause of the incident. Hydro will pro- vide updates on the efforts to resume normal production.
