Russian independent gas producer Novatek may speed up exploration at its North Obsky licence area in the far north of the country as it looks to prepare the resource base for its planned Arctic LNG 3 export project. "We originally planned to drill the second well in the North Obsky licence area, in the northern part of the Gulf of Ob, in 2020, but may bring this forward to 2019," deputy chief executive Mark Gyetvay says. The first well revealed estimated gas reserves of 320bn m~3, with potential for at least 900bn m~3.
