Russian independent gas firm Novatek has reiterated its plans for a more diverse approach to sales from the 19.8mn t/yr Arctic LNG 2 project than from the 17.44mn t/yr Yamal LNG plant - where long-term contracts predominate. The company envisages more spot sales for Arctic LNG 2, deputy chief executive Mark Gyetvay says. And it will sign no long-term contracts before reaching an investment decision on the project in the second half of 2019 - although discussions with potential buyers are under way. Novatek agreed long-term deals for 96pc of Yamal LNG output before taking an investment decision.
