Eni to fast-track new Egypt shallow find

Eni is to fast-track a development near existing infrastructure after adding to its haul of discoveries in shallow water Egypt with further exploration planned. The Italian operator signed up for the North El Hammad licence in the Nile Delta in the 2015 round with partners BP and Total. It has now drilled its first well on the block -Bashrush -and uncovered a 500ft (152m) gas column which will now be tested. The discovery is in 70ft (22m) of water, 11 km from the coast and about 12km northwest of the Nooros field and only 1km west of the Baltim South West -both of which are already in production through existing infrastructure.
