Ukrainian steel output falls by almost third

Steel production in Ukraine decreased 30% to 7.08 Mt in the first four months of the year, compared with the corresponding period of last year, sector body Metallurgprom reported.The fall is put down to the decline in industrial production while despite the largely holding ceasefire there is still some fighting with Russia-backed separatists in the eastern part of the country, home to major steel and raw material operations.
