Hot runners are a classic double-edged sword. They can provide an array of benefits, including reduced material use, faster cycles, and allowing the molder to open and close the valve gates independently for optimal cavity filling and locating of weld lines. But they also add complexity to the moid and are prone to a ton of challenges in terms of maximizing their performance. Add to that the fact that they have a lot of moving parts — systems usually include a heated manifold, a number of heated nozzles, and a temperature control system — and it's no surprise that more than a few processors struggle with their hot runners.
