Here's the conundrum: the UK needs to build new homes, infrastructure and buildings, but it doesn't have enough skilled workers to do so, and the existing workforce is not representative of its diverse society. With 300,000 new homes needed every year, HS2 and other major projects going ahead, construction output growing by 1.3% a year and 168,500 construction jobs being created between 2019 and 2023, there's a problem that needs addressing - a skills and diversity shortage.
