Kinetics of formation of silicon carbide powder from pelletized mixture of blast furnace dust of ore smelting furnaces which melt technical silicon, oil coke and sulfide-yeast binder on ammonium base, is studied at atmospheric pressure and in 1670-1870 K temperature interval. The product containing 90,9-98,4 percent of silicon carbide as acicular #beta#-SiC crystals (having length of 2-50 #mu#m) and enlarged polyhedron particles (with size up to 100 #mu#m) is obtained.
