This paper experimentally investigates the interference suppression effect of adaptive antenna array transmit diversity (AAA-TD) with 4-antenna using fast transmit power control (TPC) in W-CDMA forward link. The experimental results showed that when the ratio of the target E{sub}b/I{sub}0 of the desired user to that of interfering user wasΛE{sub}b/I{sub}0=-12dB in 2-user environments (1-interfering user), the average BER of approximately 10{sup}-6 could be achieved by using AAA-TD, meanwhile the error floor above 10{sup}-3 was observed for 1-antenna transmitter. Furthermore, it was also shown that the required transmit E{sub}b/N{sub}0 for achieving the average BER of 10{sup}-3 using 4-antenna AAA-TD can be decreased by above approximately 4.6 dB compared to that of l-antenna transmitter from the low to high Doppler frequency environments up to f{sub}D=400 Hz.
