摘要

This report describes the configuration and experimental results of a OFDM modem test set for the IEEE802.11a wireless LAN standards. The test set, which is implemented by field programmable gate array devices, is designed to offer 1/5 scale data rate of 24Mbit/s. This system is based on 16QAM-OFDM modulation using 52 subcarriers in order to attain the 24Mbit/s transmission. It also employs the rate 1/2 convolutional encoding and Viterbi decoding. The demodulator of test set is composed of automatic frequency control, symbol timing detection and channel estimation circuits. The experimental results show that it achieves good packet error rate performance of 0.1% or less in multipath channel with RMS delay spread of 100 ns.
