An initial European monoethylene glycol contract price for September was settled Friday at Eur1,075/mt FD NWE, an increase of Eur100/mt on August's level, industry sources said. Lotte Chemical confirmed settling the contract as a buyer, without confirming the seller. Lotte usually settles its contracts with Shell Chemicals. Shell did not confirm. "We fully settled the August CP and initially settled September," a source from Lotte said. The August contract price was initially settled at Eur975/mt FD NWE, up Eur90/mt from July on August 9. However, the settlement failed to find favour with the full market.
